Sat 22 Jun 2013 10 am - 4.30 pm

Last year was our first WTD in Scotland and it was wonderful - a great venue, lovely customers and lots of home made cakes made by local quilting group The Divas.

Six well known world textile traders, free admission, and only £2 to sit and enjoy a talk from a speaker with plenty of first hand experience.

In the morning Jim Gaffney will be talking about the many friends we have made over the years who make textiles in Indonesia and Thailand.  In the afternoon, Magie Relph will be introducing you to her suppliers in West Africa.

We hope you will enjoy our World Textile Day as much as we do.

Norton Village Hall, Norton near Gloucester GL2 9LJ

Sat 17 Aug 2013 11.30 am

Beautiful hand made textiles are often taken for granted and the people who make them are often woefully under paid for their efforts. But things are changing and many societies which lived outside the cash economy have now become part of the 21st century.

Textiles which were formerly made for love and now made to sell. To keep up the high standards, new ways to support textile workers have to be found - charities, finding new markets and government recognition and support are some.

Take a look at some of our very favourite textiles from all over Asia, and go away thinking after this fascinating talk.
